Trigger Thumb Surgery
2 weeks ago Dr. Harris at Northwestern did surgery to release my right trigger thumb.
Here is a tip: always bring someone to the hospital with you. No matter what they tell you.

Hold Steady at the Riv
The Hold Steady played a show at the Riviera in Chicago last Friday. Awesome show, though I like their last album a little better. I think they are remodeling/restoring the Riv, either that or they just gave up and they are letting it fall apart in front of our eyes....
The Drive by Truckers joined them on stage for the encore and it was AWESOME. They played "Burnin' for You" by the Blue Oyster Cult and should have stopped the show there.
Alas, they played 2 more songs for a two hour set. It was pretty sweet.

There were soooo many great costumes at the wedding. Here are a few more.
Ms. Lakeside with the Joker (all of the Lakeside employees who were helping at the wedding were dressed in beauty pageant sashes and tiaras. They were great!
Soft Serve.
Alien!
Amy Winehouse, The Three Amigos, Yanni
Not shown, the Breakfast Club (4 party group costume), dead General Lee and his wife, bearded Bartman, and a Ghostbuster to name a few.

Getting Ready for a Good Time
Jason went as the Joker as the nurse (played by Heath Ledger).
I was the Anarchy Cheerleader from Nirvana's 1991 breakout video "Smells Like Teen Spirit".
wiki - the video featured the band playing at a pep rally in a high school gym to an audience of apathetic students on bleachers, and cheerleaders wearing black dresses with the Circle-A anarchist symbol. The video ends with the assembled students destroying the set and the band's gear.
Black pom-poms not shown.
See the video HERE. You forgot how good it is.
J stayed in character all night adding to his completely creepy get up.

Halloween 2008!
I had a big date with Shirley and Jeremy, who got married at the haunted and spooky Lakeside Inn in Michigan.
With Jay as my cohort we tried to scare other drivers.
Then I read the map wrong and we ended up on this Beautiful country road. So worth getting a bit lost for.

Donner Love (¨ over the O)
Much of our time in Germany was spent on the lookout for Donners, which have an ¨ over the o, but I can't figure out how to write that. Donners, according to my sister, are the best food ever - and only sold in Germany. In fact, she tells a story about her friend who planned a trip home to India with a long enough layover in Berlin to go out and get one. That is how good they are! When pressed she calls it "mystery meat" and "amazing".
To her dismay in 2 1/2 days we only had 2 Donners. Above, she can be seen ordering in the background. Below, enjoying a Donner.
