Now for something a little lighter...
Fresh portrait of my friend Terri's son John. I gave him a guitar to honor his (partial) namesake, Johnny Rotten. Nothing like cute kids and good assistant to make a shoot go well!
Thanks, Danielle.

Surprise Fort
Just the other day I went out to the porch to holler for Claradog. I looked over the rail and was surprised to see this awesome fort, built by Evan and Graham, my neighbors.

The Evolution of the Hipster 2000-2009
The Evolution of the Hipster
2006: The Mountain Man
He seeks working-class authenticity, taking pride in his full beard and the fact that he’s often mistaken for a homeless person.

Below, my buddy Steven.
He sent me this link saying, "This is bullshit!" Steven insists that he is NOT a hipster. To prove this point, we took a photograph of Steven in a similar pose. As you can see, there is only a very slight resemblance...

Skate or Die
First day at the new skate park! We had two skate boards and a (three wheel) scooter for the little guy. He could not stand to wear his helmet and didn't care much for the scooter. He wanted to watch the action from the top of the ramp and ride the front of my board. His older bro was a different story. He's got a new board and can't get enough of it. I took him up some ramps today and he was loving it!
Can't wait to go back.

Camouflage: Reoccurring Themes

Above is a photo I took yesterday at the Kohl Children's Museum. The kids can look up and see themselves on a monitor, blending into the trees. At left is a shot from Garden State with Zach Braff. This image really hit the nail on the head for me. I had a vision of this (type of) image for a long time and I think I'm not alone. Below is a picture I took in 1996 as a new photographer. What is it about camouflage?

Chicago Breaks Records for Snow and Cold
Kids all over Chicago are going CRAZY! Chicago is breaking decades old records for snow AND cold. The below zero temps are canceling recess and driving exhausted teachers MAD all over the city. Just yesterday I saw a very bundled-up 5 year old begin to cry when the wind stared to blow. He was just walking from the family van to his front door.-7º temp - yes, NEGATIVE!
-29º wind chill - again, NEGATIVE
Let this be your proof that the Mid-West is NOT Affected by Global Warming.
